FileShiftr ("the App") is a file-conversion service provided by Cloud Spirit Ltd ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how long we retain it.
1. Data We Collect
Uploaded files — the files you submit for conversion.
Converted output files — the results of each conversion job.
Basic account data — email address and hashed password (if you register an account).
Device identifiers — anonymous advertising IDs used solely for serving ads (free-tier users only).
Purchase records — subscription status managed by Apple App Store or Google Play; we do not store payment card details.
2. File Retention & Automatic Deletion
30-Minute Retention Policy: All uploaded and converted files are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers 30 minutes after a conversion job completes. No manual action is required.
Upload source files are deleted immediately once the conversion finishes — only the converted output is kept.
Converted output files are permanently deleted 30 minutes after the job completes.
Failed jobs follow the same 30-minute retention window.
A background safety sweep also runs periodically to catch any files that may have been missed (e.g. during a server restart).
You may delete a job and its files at any time before the automatic deletion by using the delete button in the app.
We do not retain, archive, back up, or inspect the contents of your files beyond the 30-minute processing window.
3. How We Use Your Data
File conversion — uploaded files are processed solely to perform the format conversion you requested.
Service improvement — we may collect anonymous, aggregate usage statistics (e.g. conversion counts, format popularity) that contain no personal data.
Advertising — free-tier users see ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
Subscriptions — Pro subscription status is verified through Apple/Google in-app purchase APIs.
Apple App Store / Google Play — in-app purchases and subscription management.
We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal data or files to any other third parties.
5. Data Security
All file transfers between the app and our servers use HTTPS/TLS encryption. Files are stored in isolated, per-user directories and are not accessible to other users. Server access is restricted to authorised personnel only.
6. Children's Privacy
FileShiftr is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.
7. Your Rights
You may request deletion of your account and any associated data at any time by contacting us at the address below. Given the 30-minute automatic file deletion policy, no user files persist on our servers beyond that window.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
